Initial Settings.
After you start Backup Deluxe 2005, you will see the main window of the program.
1. Open the Settings dialog box
(File - Settings), switch to the Advanced
tab and select the mode the program will run in. If you use Windows NT/2000/XP/2003
Server, we recommend that you select running the program as a Windows service.
If you use Win 9x/ME, the program can run only as a regular application.
Backup Deluxe 2005 uses different settings when it is running as a service
and as a regular application. If you enable the «Copy items» option,
all current program settings will be copied to the mode it is being switched
to. Be careful while using this option because the copied settings will replace
all existing settings of the mode the program is being switched to.
Bear in mind that if you
start the service as a local service you will not have access to network resources.
To be able to access them, you should start the service using an account with
the corresponding permissions.
You must have permissions
as an administrator or a backup operator on your computer to back up files and
folders.
2.
Then switch to the Paths tab and specify the folder for the
program to create temporary files in. Since Backup Deluxe 2005 uses temporary
files of large sizes, we strongly recommend that you select the disk where most
free space is available.
3.
Go back to the General tab and make sure the Launch
agent on Windows startup option is enabled. Close the dialog box.
You have set the main parameters of the program. Now you can get down to creating
Scheduled Tasks and Backup Jobs.
