Creating file filters.

Creating file filters.

  1. Start Backup Deluxe 2005 and open the dialog box for creating a backup job. To do it, select the Add job.. item in the Backup
    window.
  2. Move to the What to backup dialog box and click the Add files... button.
  3. Click the Create new filter... button in the new dialog box.
  4. Click the New filter... button and enter a name for the filter, for instance «WAV files». Then click OK in the Filters manager dialog box.
  5. If you want to specify files that should be included into the backup copy, select Include files. If you want to specify files you do not want to include into the backup copy, select Exclude files. You can specify either both mask types or only one type for one filter. For instance, include - *.wav exclude q*.wav. In this case the program will select all wav files except files that have q as the first letter in their names.
  6. After you select the mask type, make a right click and select the Add... item from the popup menu.
  7. You will see the list of all file types registered in the system in the left part of the dialog box. The right part of the dialog box will contain an empty field where all file types you select will be enumerated. Move the necessary file types to it. If you want to specify an unregistered file type or a complex mask, enter it into the Advanced masks field. For instance, q*.wav; ?a*.mp3. Then click OK.
  8. You will go back to the Filters manager dialog box. Click Save filter to save the created filter. Then click OK and the Filters manager will be closed.
  9. Now you can use the Filter box to select the created filter.

Here is a short video demo that shows how it works.
